Headquartered in Jaipur, India, Jaipur Rugs was founded by Mr. Nand Kishore Chaudhary, who is now Chief Managing Director. It began as a family business set on conserving the ancestral knowledge of weaver communities of rural Rajasthan and taking rural craftsmanship to a global market while giving all due credit to its stakeholders through every step of the process. 

Their journey spanning more than four decades is a noteworthy success story for businesses all over the world. Jaipur Rugs has grown from two looms in 1978, to more than 7000 looms today. Through collaboration with globally acclaimed designers, they create contemporary works of art by reimagining the ancestral craft in a new avatar. 

They deliver their products to more than 75 countries, and the company boasts of having empowered more than 40,000 artisans all across India. Jaipur Rugs’ sister concern company – Jaipur Living is a well-known brand that sells handmade rugs all across the United States.

More than 85% of the artisans are women.

As an inclusive artisan-first, design-led brand, the company is determined on showcasing its designs in this part of the world and bringing handmade carpets from rural India to MENA. The brand has been working closely with many interior designers and architects in the region.

In 2021, Jaipur Rugs participated in Downtown Dubai for the first time. Their unique brand story and exquisite products received an overwhelming response. It was this response that prompted them to look into expanding its business in the region.

Today, Jaipur Rugs is on a retail expansion spree. The brand has recently opened two new stores in India and has many more in the pipeline. Their first store in Europe was recently launched in Milan, with the possibility of more opening up in the region. Apart from this, the brand has several designer collaborations coming up which they will unveil soon.
