A bit about the brand

Founded during World War II in 1942, the Eczacıbaşı Group started up as a ceramic workshop led by Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı, in Kartal, Istanbul. At its conception, the workshop only produced tableware and ornaments with eight working employees assisting the business. However, after the war ended, the brand grew rapidly in parallel with Turkey’s economic growth and urbanization. The consumers’ demand for bathroom products such as wash basins and toilets also increased, thus pushing the brand to open a bigger production facility in 1958, and in 1966 the brand eventually took its current name, VitrA.

Today, with a capacity to develop and manufacture all the products that may be needed in a bathroom, VitrA secures its position in the industry by giving priority to research and development, and working with leading international designers.

With its worldwide reach, the brand produces over 6 million pieces of sanitaryware each year, distributed to over 75 countries around the world.

VitrA Dubai Showroom

VitrA Dubai flagship showroom in the Middle East region, is launched in 2021 where the design and architectural community is hosted. In the showroom, designer ranges are shared, collaboration with world-renowned designers including Ross Lovegrove, Claudio Bellini, Arik Levy and Terri Pecora is created.

Index Design Awards Partnership

The INDEX Design Awards celebrates innovative interior projects, the agencies and the people behind them. Open to interior design, architecture and fit-out firms and exceptional out-of-the-box leaders within the design community.

The INDEX Design Awards 2021 took place on 31st August, at the Ritz Carlton DIFC, Dubai with the platinum sponsorship of VitrA. The dates for the 2022 edition will be announced soon and VitrA will be sponsoring the event again.


RIBA Talks

VitrA partnered with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to launch the RIBA + VitrA Talks in Autumn 2018. This flagship programme is aimed at showcasing the best in contemporary established and emerging voices in architecture, both in the UK and internationally with talks occurring in London, Istanbul and regional cities in the UK.

This partnership with RIBA reflects VitrA’s long-established commitment to add cultural value to society through the global exchange of architectural discourse.


Hospitality Leadership & Design Conference

VitrA will be one of the event sponsors of the 3rd Hospitality Leadership & Design Conference. The conference will once again gather the industry’s foremost leaders and creatives to discuss the wealth of activity and opportunity within the hospitality sector on December 8th, 2021.
