With their upstream activities in Abu Dhabi and their downstream business managed from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates is an important hub for BP’s operations across the Middle East. Their relationship with the United Arab Emirates goes back to the early 1930s, when Air BP established a refuelling depot in Sharjah to serve the first airplanes en route from the UK to India.
Today, the head office for their regional upstream activities is in Abu Dhabi.
