After completing his schooling from the Ankara Gazi Anatolian High School, Gurkan Akay entered ITU in 1994. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 1998. In 2001, he completed his education in the same year at the Department of Photography at the Marmara University. Since 1996, he has photographed many architects, architectural firms and other sectoral firms.
He is partnered by Şenay Akay, who after finishing Galatasaray High School, entered Mimar Sinan University Architecture Department in 1994 and graduated in 2000. Until 2007, he worked as a designer in various national and international project companies.
Since 2007, Gürkan Akay has been carrying out the post-production phase, as the company partner, in the architectural photography.
