Universal Music Polska is the largest record company on the Polish market. Its roots are in the Polish label Izabelin Studio, which launched a new wave of Polish rock music in the early 1990s, such as Hey, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Kasia Kowalska, Closterkeller or Big Day.

In August 1994, the label Izabelin Studio with its catalog of artists was bought by the international label PolyGram. This movement allowed for a combination of a strong local catalog with a huge catalog of foreign artists. In November 1998, PolyGram was bought by Seagram and the merger of the two companies formed the Universal Music Group.
