Established in 2012, Beirut Design Week is the largest growing design festival in the Middle East & North Africa. The main goal of the event is to encourage inter-cultural exchange, design, education, social impact, and design entrepreneurship. Every year for a week, a series of events take place whereby local and international designers come together to showcase their works across the different neighborhoods of Beirut (Downtown, Hamra, Ashrafieh etc.).
Beirut Design Week is returning for its 8th edition under the theme of ‘Design & Nostalgia’, whereby time and its fluctuation will be playing an integral part of the event. As creative people, writers, artists, designers, architects, actors and most importantly thinkers embedded in their present state, this year’s theme unites us in bringing back what used to be, acknowledging its value and utilizing it for the purpose of gradually creating new visions and establishments, etching new statements based on those past, carving new shapes from those forgotten and departed.
This years edition invites creative actors in the Lebanese scene to discuss, learn and propel design onward by attempting to answer the questions put forward for this year’s exciting new theme.
