American Good Design Award for SilentLab

Czech-based SilentLab and their MICROOFFICE have won four prestigious design awards in the last year. The latest of these came from the Good Design Awards, which have been awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design since 1950 for products with innovative industrial, product and graphic designs. The jury for this prestigious award took an interest in two SilentLab products, the MICROOFFICE PRIME and QUADRIO I, in the Furniture category. The other winners included brands like Ferrari, Philips, Zaha Hadid Design and Helly Hansen.

“I’m delighted that Czech MICROOFFICES took their place among the top global design products last year and won a number of international awards,”

comments Jaroslav Vendl, one of the founders of SilentLab, adding,

“2020 was an unusual year in many respects, so we appreciate the recognition even more. We perceive them as a reward for our past work, driving force for our current work, and responsibility for the future.”

Both MICROOFFICE products stand out at a glance for their minimalism. The MICROOFFICE PRIME is a separate space where you can make a phone call or think in peace. Two glass walls let in plenty of light and keep you in contact with the rest of the office. The MICROOFFICE QUADRIO I provides the ideal space for meetings. It can hold up to four people and offers the perfect spot for quick meetings or private conversations.

Another SilentLab co-founder, Jan Kaňka, considers noise in the workplace to be the biggest problem facing companies from an acoustic standpoint:

“You can’t hear each other properly, you have no privacy, no way to concentrate on your work, nowhere to go take a phone call – the hallway or stairwell echoes and the kitchenette has three other people on their phones too… You know what it’s like.”

A mobile MICROOFFICE solves all these problems in the form of a stylish addition to your interior design.

Awards committees from all around the world have picked up on this unique combination of functionality and design. Individual MICROOFFICE products have won many different awards in the last two years. In 2019 they won the Red Dot Design Award and BigSee Award. In 2020 they won the BigSee Award once again as well as the German Design Award, Archiproducts Design Awards and Good Design Awards. All these awards have the same goal: to discover unique design potential across a variety of product categories.

About the Good Design Awards
The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and design has been handing out awards for the past 70 years, with about 40,000 products from more than 50 countries recognized in that time. This makes the Good Design Award one of the oldest, most prestigious design awards there is. Its goal is to raise awareness of contemporary design and recognize industry leaders who are pushing the boundaries with their innovative, competitive products on the world market. Each year the judges choose innovative, cutting-edge industrial, product and graphic design in many different categories.
