Cosentino Announces Capsule Collection With Region’s Top Designers

April 2021

The first-of-its-kind limited edition furniture and home accessories collection with Cosentino’s 4mm Dekton Slim will be unveiled in June 2021

Architectural surfaces leader Cosentino announces its debut Capsule Collection of furniture and home accessories to be created in collaboration with 5 top regional design houses. This limited-edition collection will feature objects and furniture crafted by Nada Debs, Kart Group, Fadi Sarieddine Design Studio, Aljoud Lootah and The Line Concept.

Unified under the theme “Breaking Boundaries”, the Cosentino Capsule Collection is envisioned as an ode to Dekton Slim, the new 4mm ultracompact material format born out of Cosentino’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and pushing the boundaries of surface design. Using Dekton Slim both as a functional and decorative feature, the collaborators will push the boundaries of the material to its full potential to create 5 individual works of art in their signature design styles.

“Cosentino Middle East is pleased to be taking the lead on creating the first ever Dekton Slim Capsule Collection worldwide. This project marks our commitment to creating locally and sustainably. It is also a way to showcase to the world the incredible design talent we have in the Middle East and to celebrate their unique creations in a material totally new to them. The Cosentino Capsule Collection is really about collaborating and breaking boundaries in every sense – material, design, process and production” explained Miriam Llano, Marketing Manager – Cosentino Middle East

The eclectic collection, due to be unveiled in mid-June 2021, will bring together diverse design approaches from the 5 renowned collaborators who have already carved a niche for themselves with their individual practices.

As the project is flagged off, celebrated Lebanese designer Nada Debs whose work spans scale and discipline: from product and furniture design to one-off commissions across craft, art, fashion and interiors is “looking forward to creating a synergy between the advanced technology of Cosentino and the intricate crafts of the region.” Along the same lines, Architect Mustafa Khamash, Founder of Dubai-based luxury interior design atelier the Kart Group, is excited about “creating a dynamic collection that reflects the richness and vibrancy of this region.”

Fadi Sarieddine, founder of the multidisciplinary atelier Fadi Sarieddine Design Studio, known for his experimental approach that challenges the fundamentals of traditional design is keen on “exploring the characteristics of the material (Dekton Slim) and investigating its new dimensions when applied on furniture.”  Similarly, internationally acclaimed Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah whose work focuses on interpreting Emirati culture and artisanal techniques through contemporary design is interested in exploring the material “in a completely new way to create 3-dimensional and functional products.”

Echoing the sentiments of other members of the collective, the duo Dana Al Matrook and Newsha Dastaviz from contemporary furniture design studio The Line Concept remarked, “We look forward to providing a refreshing perspective on how avant-garde materials such as Dekton Slim can be applied in unconventional designs.”

Following the reveal in June and official launch of the collection in September, the Collection will be showcased at the Expo 2020 Spanish Pavilion and Downtown Design 2021.
