modulyss confirms its environmental commitment with 127 Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products and a second Gold certificate

After having achieved the Gold level on 28 products, carpet tile manufacturer modulyss (member of the Balta Group) has now been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver on a  staggering 99 products. With this second certificate, modulyss underlines its ambition to cut  down on waste and to set the standard for the flooring industry.

But that is not all! The recyclable ecoBack backing, which is PVC and bitumen free and contains  a polyolefin-based layer with at least 75% recycled content, also received a Cradle to Cradle  Certified™ Gold certificate.

Stefan Claeys, Managing Director at modulyss, comments: “These new Cradle to Cradle  certifications are another milestone in our journey towards sustainability and circularity.”

Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is the global benchmark for safe and sustainable products,  developed and issued by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. Products are assessed across five categories: material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and  carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. With the lowest achievement  level in one of those categories representing the product’s overall mark.

Just like modulyss’ Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold products, the Silver certified products are  made with 100% regenerated ECONYL® yarn; are equipped with an ecoBack backing, which  is now also Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold; and are CO2 neutral thanks to the CO2RE initiative  that offsets any remaining greenhouse gas emissions by supporting climate projects.

The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold ecoBack is a specialised backing that is designed to  contribute to the circular economy. Not only is this backing solution PVC and bitumen free, but  it also contains a polyolefin-based layer with minimum 75% recycled content. At the end of its  lifetime, it can be disassembled and recycled into a first grade new backing.

With these two extra certificates, modulyss proves its worth by limiting its environmental  footprint and by making sustainability accessible to everyone, without having to compromise  on quality or design.
