Postura: New Colour Palette and the Journey Towards a Circular Economy

As of summer 2023, KI’s iconic Postura+ chair will be available in 20 different colours, including 7 brand new tones, some of which will be on display at Clerkenwell Design Week 2023.

The new colours ensure that the design of any classroom, library, or other educational space can have an ergonomic, durable, and stain-resistant seating solution. This includes the one-piece polypropylene chair, task chairs, high chairs, stools, reverse cantilever chairs, or 4 leg chairs on castors.

The introduction of these new colours means that KI can now deliver a rounded palette of Natural, Chroma, Neon, Muted and Achromatic tones.

Natural – inspired by the sky, sea, and land. It features earthy tones, muted greens, and inky blues that evoke a connection to the natural world and organic environments. This palette creates tranquil atmospheres and is an ideal choice for biophilic designs:

  • Purple Haze (NEW)
  • Misty Brown (NEW)
  • Moss Green (NEW)
  • Nordic Blue (NEW)

Chroma – consists of vivid and saturated hues that deliver on the ‘wow’ factor. This carefully curated palette is best applied with the intention to draw attention and create a strong visual impact. Derived from the foundations of the colour wheel, these shades offer a graphic, statement quality to interior schemes:

  • Poppy Red
  • Sun Yellow
  • Forest Green
  • Ink Blue

Neon – this colour range embodies energy and excitement. They are often used to create bold, eye-catching looks, from a subtle pop of colour to a full-on neon explosion. These vibrant, zest hues will brighten up any space:

  • Grape Crush
  • Tangerine Fizz
  • Lime Zest
  • Aqua Blue

Achromatic – comprising of black and grey shades this colour palette seamlessly blends with elegant and timeless schemes. These moody yet neutral tones work best in minimalist and contemporary designs to facilitate a calming and relaxing ambience.

  • Jet Black
  • Slate Grey
  • Iron Grey
  • Ashy Grey

Muted – this includes taupe tones and pastel shades. Soft and subtle, they have a soothing effect to build a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere whilst still injecting some colour. They create a sense of harmony and balance, yet elicit sophistication and style:

  • Rose Blossom (NEW)
  • Light Sand (NEW)
  • Hazy Jade (NEW)
  • Powder blue

From December 2022, following over 3 years of trials and testing, the Postura+ one-piece chairs also began being manufactured with at least 30% recycled polypropylene, bringing them one step closer to their ‘Jet Black’ chair which is already made from 100% recycled content.

This innovation in Postura+ chair production further enhances the product’s environmental performance, outlined in its independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Manufactured in the UK, these chairs are transported in 100% recyclable packaging, and are themselves 100% recyclable at their end of life. Further details of KI’s journey towards a circular economy for Postura+ can be explored at their exhibit in Old Sessions House.
