Sans Souci Advises on Lighting up Madame Tussauds

Sans Souci, Czech designer and creator of glass lighting installations advised and developed technical lighting solutions for Madame Tussauds, the latest attraction on Blue Waters Island. A step away from San Souci’s usual projects in five star hotels and beatiful villas, this project showcases the company’s specialist lighting skills in a number of different ways.  Visitors to the attraction will marvel at the expositions, which stand out thanks to perfect lighting,  but not many will think about the lengths that have been gone to,  to achieve this perfection.

Sans Souci was selected for it its knowledge and understanding of this type of specialist lighting and the  ability to develop the lighting and control systems required for a themed venue with special requirements.

The venue is fitted throughout with a 3 circuit track based system providing ultimate flexibility, the tracks in each zone are strategically placed to be able to get accurate coverage on the exhibits and wax characters,  and there are differentlight fixtures including Moving Heads, Effects Projectors, Pixel Strips. However, in general the lighting is based around 918 Nos Parcans with Special Soraa AR111 Vivid Lamps providing very high light accuracy. The system is controlled by 168 channels of dimming by a Control 4 automation system with the ability to control each Track and Zone for light adjustment by touch panels when the theme or model is changed.

“A key feature within the design is to see the light on the subjects but where possible not see the light fixture itself; in many areas the accent lighting is there, but not obvious”,

said Paul J. Davies, Head of Sales and Design, (Sans Souci Techincal)

“Working on this destination and high profile venue shows the skillset of the team at Sans Souci and confirms the specialist nature of our business, it is a very important piece of our portfolio and we were fortunate to have been part of it and to be chosen by Merlin Entertainments”,

Sans Souci is currently working on a many projects of varying sizes,  including: restaurants, large commercial, landscape, façade dynamic systems, high end residential properties and leisure areas, bringing them to life with special products and unique control systems.
