Spain Returns to Downtown Design with a Pavilion that Gathers the Finest Spanish Interior Design Products

Downtown Design is the most important trade show of the interior design industry in the Middle East and beyond. It takes place during Dubai Design Week and attracts the region’s most influential interior designers, architects, real estate developers, and dealers, among many other interesting buyers.

Given the fair’s importance and the potential of the Middle East markets for the Spanish manufacturers of interior products, ICEX Spain Trade & Investment returns to the 9th edition of Downtown Design. Curated by UAE-based Spanish architect and university professor Juan Roldan, ‘Interior Makers’ has been conceived to become a reference for Spanish interior design products worldwide.

The eight brands that have been shortlisted to display their latest products at ‘Interior Makers’ are: Böln, Cosentino, Kriskadecor, Lladró, Nani Marquina, Nomon, RS Barcelona y Sol y Luna. The visitor that approaches the Spanish Pavilion (stand D10) will be astonished by an exceptional selection of indoor and outdoor furniture, intense living and playful products, lighting, artisanal design rugs, handcrafted porcelain and leather goods and decorative objects.

The Spanish pavilion will have a launch event at Cosentino’s showroom on November 8th at 8:30. This Opening Breakfast will host an exciting conversation moderated by Lena Marcuccilli (from Love That Design) about the concepts behind Juan Roldan’s design and the reasons for handpicking the eight exhibiting brands. The renowned chef Mariano Andres will be in charge of adding the Spanish taste to the breakfast.

Sustainability has been a major priority for Juan Roldan while creating ‘Interior Makers’. Recycled and recyclable materials have been employed in order to maximize the spatial experience of the pavilion with a low carbon footprint. As part of “The Forum” conferences at Downtown Design, Roldan will lead a discussion about ‘Sustainable Environments’ at different scales −from the city to the object− with Marisa Santamaria (Founder of Global Innovation Trends Unit) and Xavi Calvo (CEO of World Design Capital Valencia 2022). This panel will take place on November 10th at 4:15pm at the exhibition.

Roldan has been recently awarded a UAE’s Golden Visa as a recognition to his career and contributions to the academic and design communities of the country. These special visas enable foreigners to work and live without a local sponsor, as well as to retain 100% ownership of their business on the UAE’s mainland.
