This Season, from the House of Jaipur Rugs Comes Inde Rose

An amazing collection of coordinated silk carpet pairings by designer and style savant Vinita Chaitanya

This Season, from The House of Jaipur Rugs Comes Inde Rose

Inde Rose is French for ‘India Rose’, and much like a rose in bloom, is a delicate unfurling of Vinita’s lifetime of observations—of nature, of gardens, of colour, texture and techniques.

The Inde Rose collection is a coming together of two craftsmanship champions and powerhouses: Jaipur Rugs, which has been in the business of artisanal carpets for more than four decades; and Vinita Chaitanya, who, for more than 30 years now, has been designing exquisite, exclusive spaces that celebrate glamour and luxury, while staying true to India’s design heritage and craft traditions.

Commenting on the collaboration with Designer Vinita Chaitanya and launch of the new collection, Mr. Yogesh Chaudhary, Director, Jaipur Rugs said,

“Vinita Chaitanya is known for her insider’s edge into luxury and a contemporary classic design aesthetics. She cherishes the vibrant heritage of India and showcases Indian arts in her work. With this collection she has added her unique artistic vision to create a sublime design language with carpets. She was passionately involved with the design process from concept to delivery and she has given our customers a euphoric blend of sumptuous silks, traditional motifs and an exquisite Indian story to take home. Through this collection, Jaipur Rugs is presenting to the world liveable art.”

Inde Rose comprises five carpet pairings, each with one graphic-heavy piece and a visually lighter one to complement it. What is remarkable about the collection is that its coordinated carpet pairings give users the options of creating unique combinations of colour and textures for spaces. Layering unexpected colours, prints-on-prints, and weaves and textures is signature Vinita, and with Inde Rose, she presents an incredibly luxurious material palette with exquisite workmanship by Jaipur Rugs, which now can be layered to create new and unique design stories.

Each carpet in the Inde Rose collection is made in silk, with 121 knots per square inch, and employs a sculpting technique locally known as gultaraash—literally, the pruning done by a gardener. This adds a low-relief aspect to the designs, giving their story yet another layer, and the user, an additional sensory experience. The palette for the collection draws from the jewel tones of Indian miniature paintings but filters them through a contemporary lens transforming them into dusty pinks, pale jades, and muted blues and purples. They are subtle, joyful, and perfect for silk, which adds its own lustre.

Inde Rose is Vinita’s first ever collection of carpets and combines her richly layered aesthetic with Jaipur Rugs’ manufacturing expertise to create design masterpieces that blur the lines between art and object, form and function.

The new collection was captured amidst the rich cultural history and heritage offered by the luxurious Suryagarh at Jaisalmer. A destination that offers the unexplored and well curated life led in Jaisalmer; the magnificent fortress was the ideal backdrop for a collection that seeks inspiration from a lifetime of observations, designed by a champion of India’s art and heritage.
