About Alizarina Studio

Alizarina was born in Milan in 1991. Since birth she has been influenced by the creative and artistic currents within her family: her parents are both artists and they even decided to name her after a colour. Alizarina, Italian for Alzarin, is actually a red pigment traditionally extracted from madder root. She attended a specialist artistic high school in Brera, before moving on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, obtaining a degree in scenography. From there, she enrolled on a Master’s degree at the IUAV University of Venice in Sciences and Techniques for Theatre, where she fell in love with the theatrical world, its costumes and textile art. Alongside her mother’s workshop that taught her specific artistic techniques and her father’s fabric showroom, Alizarina began the journey that would lead her, at the age of 25, to the development of her own project. She decided to follow in the footsteps of her mother, working with fabric and creating design objects that encase all the warmth of scenography and all the care of artisan craftsmanship.
