Raffaella Mangiarotti was born in Genoa but lives and works in Milan. She graduated with honours in Architecture from Milan Politecnico where she founded the Deepdesign studio along with Matteo Bazzicalupo. She works in industrial design and her clients include numerous companies such as Barilla, Castelli Haworth, Coca Cola, Daimler Chrysler, Fratelli Rossetti, Giorgetti Guzzini, JVC, Kimberley Clark, Kitchen Aids, Kraft, Imetec, Mandarina Duck, Matsushita, NEC, San Lorenzo, Serralunga, Skitsch, Smeg, the Olympic Games in Turin and Whirlpool Europe.
Raffaella Mangiarotti has received several awards, in particular the Young & Design Award (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000), Cosmopack (1995, 1996), Esaedro (1997), the ID Award (2004, 2008), the Selezione Compasso d’Oro (2005) and Green Dot Award (2009). Her projects are featured in numerous magazines and publications. In December 2009 the Triennale in Milan dedicated to her a solo exhibition.
Raffaella Mangiarotti currently works at the Deepdesign studio and as a researcher for the Milan Politecnico. She also works independently on other projects in the sectors of electrical appliances, industrial furniture and limited editions.
