Agency

A modern interpretation of traditional tapestry, Agency by artist Sarah Morris in collaboration with Maharam is an upholstery textile with a bold geometric pattern.

Agency is based on Sarah Morris’s 2005 painting Creative Artists Agency (Los Angeles). Its layered repeating hexagonal design, which exemplifies the grid and tile structure of the artist’s paintings, provides the ideal framework for colour exploration.

In developing Agency, Sarah Morris and Maharam Design Studio worked together to create textural dimension. They achieved this through reconciling different tactile weave structures with the artist’s characteristically flat, glossy painting style.
