About the project
AstraZeneca is a global research-based biopharmaceutical company, which primarily focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines. For their Nairobi offices, they requested multiple hot-desking spaces and private meeting rooms, open plan offices and good collaborative work zones.
So, in keeping with the pharmaceutical and medicine theme, designer Eryll J Sharma chose human cells, DNA and the letters ‘A’ & ‘Z’ from AstraZeneca as the main focus of inspiration. Hence the bubble chairs representing blood cells and the ‘A’ and ‘Z’ shape of the board structure. The human biology and pharmaceutical theme continues through the visuals – structural DNA in pinks and magentas artfully decorates a glass divider. At the same time, the design shows practical touches (load-bearing pillars in the open plan spaces double as wipe and erase boards) and the odd quirky, fun element (an iPhone dial pad illustration blown up to the size of the office glass walls).
The fitout was executed by Stonehenge.
