About the project
The BASF Head Office, Turkey is located at West Ataşehir, an emerging business and finance district of Istanbul. The design concept and interior was by mimaristudio. The project management was taken care of by JLL and Oguz Bayazit Mimarlik took care of the general contracting.
Led and supported by the BASF’s Facility/ Real Estate Management department, and keeping in line with the corporate’criteria and ideas, the company moved into an open office space based on horizontal architecture. This was considered a huge step towards transforming their work habits and workplace culture along with the workspace itself.
The new physical space facilitates a work environment that promotes interaction, socialization and working together, regardless of the employees rank. A brand new working and living environment is created by combining the environmentalist, innovative and social face of BASF with global design criteria which made the project a candidate for LEED certificated for its sustainable design.
The project was planned across two floors with the welcome desk and main reception in the lower level. Two main staircases were custom designed by mimaristudio to connect these two levels. Platforms that the staircases land also provided meeting and socializing points. These two areas use the corporate colour scheme and are the core
spaces that attract visitors attention.
The office furniture, working seats and electronic height adjustment tables were all selected through rigorous evaluation for employee comfort and work ergonomics. Meeting, gathering and training rooms of various capacities and quantities were furnished with similar features and with the same approach. The designs of the floors, walls and ceilings were collaborated with other design disciplines such as lighting, acoustics, landscape, graphic design and furniture.
The whole space is designed as a holistic shell, where the elements complement each other. The company’s innovative, dynamic and colourful identity is emphasized with the different forms, shapes and geometric uses of finishing materials. Acoustic criteria were set from the beginning of the design process and yielded a successful and productive result.
LED technology was used in general lighting products like spots or stretch ceiling as well as in all of the decorative ones. Reflecting on the innovative, environmentalist and colourful corporate identity of the employer and focusing on happiness and motivation of the staff, the project received full marks from the client not only as a workplace but also as a living space.
