About the project
Designed by LW Design, Bull & Bear finds itself in the perfect setting to stay true to its roots in New York City, whether it be for a breakfast meeting, a business lunch or a place to unwind with a glass of wine after work. The name originates from the terms “Bull” and “Bear”, used to describe the condition of the stock market. The brief given to the designers required a high-end dining concept that would transition smoothly from day to night.
As the only F&B venue on the property, Bull & Bear would need to serve all three meals to hotel and external guests, and that needed to be considered in the design. The stunning view across three sides of the space was a key feature of the restaurant. Paired with the double-height volume of the space, it was imperative to bring a softness to the perimeter, which was done through full height sheers and drapes. Warm, reflective and sumptuous textures and colours in the materials ensured a welcoming ambience and a seamless transition from daytime to evening dining.
A rich mix of timber, metal and leather paired with contemporary, classic furniture creates the signature appeal of the restaurant, whilst simultaneously capturing the spirit of a modern gentlemen’s club. Handmade tramazite panels by British company, ‘Based Upon’, surround the kitchen hood, and antique mirrors in chevron patterns along the walls behind the banquette seating are dressed with full height, luxurious, blue velvet drapes. Wooden floors throughout further add a distinct warmth to the space.
