About the project
dwp was commissioned to redesign two F&B outlets, at the luxurious Capital Club, in Dubai. The aim was to create a pan-Asian restaurant, transforming the existing bistro space and snooker room into a very contemporary venue, and also revamp the existing Arabic dining room, Al Hamra.
dwp welcomed the challenge and designed a space that became a dynamic addition to the other F&B outlets in the Capital Club. Several limitations were encountered with respect to retaining existing ceilings and services, which were, nevertheless, overcome with finesse.
For the pan-Asian venue, the ceilings were clad with high lacquer panels to accentuate height. Backlit orange glass and natural onyx detailing emphasized the mood, while graphics created accents and added dynamics to the space. Selective walls were panelled with orange stained stingray, to provide texture. The result was a stylish, contemporary restaurant and bar, tailored to suit both relaxed lunchtime and cool evening dining. In the Al Hamra dining room, dwp designed a long juice bar, as the dominant feature in the space, glowing various tones of blue to magenta. This is highlighted by special ceiling light fixtures, also designed by dwp and manufactured in Turkey. The walls are textured stone in an Arabic motif and adorned with accompanying brass light fittings. The space is modern, with a bright, yet sophisticated, outlook.
