About the project
Spencer Interiors worked closely with key stakeholders to understand how Criteo’s business actually worked, then used these insights to create a unique and fascinating design reflecting the ethos and values of the company. Integral to any Criteo office is its reflection of its location. Their Paris office looks like a Parisian coffee shop, they have a beach shack at their Barcelona outpost and so forth.
For their Dubai office in Media City, Spencer Interiors took inspiration from the city’s backbone, Sheikh Zayed Road, to create a journey through Dubai, envisaging the central corridor as a road or a link between the various districts or junctions, with the iconic Safa Park at one end and the Dubai staple, Jumeirah Beach, on the other. From the contemporary slant of Downtown Dubai, DIFC and Marina to the relaxed coziness of a variety of Dubai homes and a multi-purpose collision space akin to a coffee shop, our design codes reflect the Emirate across time, styles and districts.
But there is more depth to this project than just beautiful design. Incorporating the latest philosophies in workspace design our solution responds to the millennial workforce, affording them adaptive, and flexible working solutions, focused groups and hot desks. To better their working environment, we respond to the human’s natural inclination towards nature (biophilia), by reimagining nature indoors through biomimicry.
An adaptive, central collision zone that updates and reinterprets the traditional neighborhood cafes that dotted Dubai before the advent of the branded coffee shops. And a palette of brick, concrete and salvaged crate wood layered with colors reminiscent of the region – Persian Blue, turquoise and Mustard. Look closely, and you’ll find an authentic, handmade Turkish rug bought from the market of Istanbul – and LED filament bulbs that lend a serene amber glow! This creates a warm, homely informal breakout that caters to town hall meetings, large presentations, and even yoga sessions (just remove the furniture!)
Finally, the board room is far from average; this is an urban oasis within the office, themed on a journey through Dubai. There’s a bespoke Carrara marble-topped table made at the Spencer Interiors Joinery, framed by a cracked earth floor that ensures no-one ever suffers ghastly shadows while video conferencing. The TV is encased in a custom-built acoustic panel in teal with an arabesque detailing in matte brass, forged in Dubai. And it’s all brought together with custom acoustic glass partitioning designed with Optima. A series of meeting rooms and quiet rooms kitted with the latest in Video Conferencing apps (they are global leaders in IT after all) – with loads of personality tip their hats to the many cultures that make Dubai a global melting pot.
