About the project
Designed by Broadway Interiors, District Lounge Bar offers coffee and a space to relax, bistro style. Previously a dark nightclub housing two perimeter bars, the designers completely changed the flow of the interiors to accommodate the new vision. To make it more translucent and allow natural daylight to flood into the space, the cellular entrance lobby was replaced with a full section of wall with foldable doors. There is a subtle balance of natural daylight with regulatory privacy, utilising locally hand-crafted tempered glass, giving the required translucent appearance, with the bubble imperfection adding character. A new, centrally focused iconic bar was introduced using a classy array of materials for style, whilst providing maximum functionality for glasses and storage, creating a social hub and focal point.
French Subway inspired vaulted brass pods add character to the open slab ceiling, whilst a mixed floor combination of black and white polished terrazzo, softened with antique recycled parquet flooring panels, giving the space a warm, calming ambiance. Recycled louvered wooden shutters add to the cosmopolitan experience. Brick walls are refashioned with a distressed, whitewash
finish, and interest is created with RGB LED lighting technologies. Intuitive LED lighting can be seen throughout the venue to subtly change the space, using colour to seamlessly transition between moods; shifting from a casual, comfortable lounge bar, to a sophisticated dining eatery or a late night high octane jazz club.
