About the project
Istanbul-based Yerce Architecture along with ZAAS Architecture and Design Studio created the Empera Headquarter building with contracting work by Yaşar Yapı İnşaat. Located in the Gaziantep industrial zone, the aim of the design was to create a building that would stand out in its industrial environment and represent their strong brand identity. The overall concept was guided by the climate, its surrounding natural landscape, effective use of natural light and the multiple functions that the building was to host.
The entry to the building is emphasised via a wide and inviting canopy, and accommodates the reception along with the design and operation units. The first floor hosts the administrative offices, followed by the showroom on the second floor, while the third floor accommodates the common social areas that include a cafeteria, meeting rooms, lounge and play space. With a withdrawn facade on the third floor, a semi open terrace with a panoramic view was created. While the different units in the building are separated in a permeable manner, a sense of inner flow, spaciousness and continuity were achieved through the use of custom made furniture.
Inspired by the red soil found in the region, the architects chose bricks as the main material, as it created a strong contrast with the natural environment. Different types of plants were also integrated in the design of the facade to provide the opportunity to relate with nature.
