About the project
Boutique interior design agency TwentyOne06 was tasked with creating the new Flow outlet in Dubai Internet City. They approached this task by first researching the brand and its individual USPs as well as its location to better understand the clientele, the foot fall and the competition. As a result Flow has been designed to serve clientèle working in the surrounding buildings that are looking for healthy but high quality lunch options as well as a hybrid work space. The Design DNA revolves around 3 key elements. The first is energetic, which influenced the colour pallet, artworks, and given greenery. Pastel tones are complemented by natural wood textures and materials, achieving a bright and welcoming location. Second is craft, a need for stimulating design where motivational conversation and energizing products come together to form a new harmony, i.e. a space to inspire, succeed and flourish. This influenced the seating style, design detailing, and all touch points. And lastly, sustainability. As Flow is a concept for the future the materials needed to reflect this characteristic coupled with the plants that would be installed and the key feature of the Microgreens growing unit within the location.
One of the most unique offers for Flow café is the self-service Honey and Milk station, with its unique milk taps, offering soy, coconut and oat milks w, aell as its fresh honey drip display straight from an open honeycomb. An adaptable seating area in the form of a tiered platform is functionally purposed for customers wanting to work or grab a quick bite. It can be transformed into auditorium seating with carved wood detailing and greenery forming an eye catching feature.
As the Flow brand promotes fresh ingredients, sustainability and future preservation, TwentyOne06 also designed a minimal maintenance-and-attention microgreens growth unit, which supports the café by supplying fresh produce, and also reducing its purchasing on produces by 20%, allowing to help move away from preservatives and on to nutrient-rich herbs and produce.
