About the project
Think Contemporary designed the Global Student Accommodation for Highfield Park to have a strong student appeal in Dublin, Ireland. Having previously worked with Global Student Accommodation (GSA), Think Contemporary were engaged once again for the design of the social spaces, this time for their largest scheme to date in Ireland, Highfield Park. GSA is the one of the largest global student accommodation companies, with a presence in over 8 countries. Having worked on a previous scheme for them, focusing on strong design in the social spaces, they really wanted to create something special in Highfield Park. They wanted the design to be best in class, giving their students superior services. The largest social space accommodates 2 games areas, cinema type space, communal kitchen, coffee dock, TV room and gym. While each space has its own design identity there is a flow through the space tailoring each space to its required use. The colourful metal screens are a key feature to this space and help to divide the cinema space and games area. The study spaces needed to cater to different ways of studying, allowing the students to interact if necessary. All of the study spaces have a mix of seating, from communal style tables to booth seating and banquette style benches. They also have internal coffee docks, to allow the students refreshments within the space.
