About the project
GSK Stockmann, a leading independent European corporate law firm, is situated in a modern building on the Kirchberg plateau, the central business district of Luxembourg and predominant location of the European Union institutions and bodies. They have relocated their offices from the 2nd to the 1st floor, covering a spacious 2400 sm. Due to the architecture of the building, the floor plan of the office space is quite out-of-the-ordinary: It is about a square surface in the centre building (cube area) and two wings arranged at right angles to it. Connecting walkways can be used to get from the cube to the wings and vice versa.
The aim of this unique Interior Design project was to develop modern, light and tailored offices with interior design elements matching the needs of the aforementioned company and its clients. Belvedere Architecture was commissioned to create a distinctive design and supervise the conversion work. The new rental space was to include individual offices for 40 to 45 employees, with meeting rooms, a customer area with reception and a break room with lounge, open space areas and changing rooms with showers.
While the meeting rooms, back office and relaxation areas are in the cube area, most of the individual offices are located along the wing A and B corridors. To break the long corridors’ linear effect, corner spaces with plants have been created setting a new spatial rhythm. The carpets make an optical enlargement as well as a calming atmosphere; its geometric patterns show the dynamic nature of the firm and team. Next to the main kitchen, separate smaller coffee points allow the staff to relax or discuss work. Kitchens include wooden elements to create a harmonic atmosphere. The walls are decorated with art from alternating art exhibitions with Luxembourg artists.
