About the project
Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Mall of the Emirates is a design and build project with GAJ appointed as lead consultant under Laing O’Rourke as the main contractor.
The project site is just over 9,500 sqm in area, with an existing hotel occupying just under half of the site. The Hilton Garden Inn occupies the remainder of the site, and also connects to the existing hotel at basement level. Design proposals for this hotel were governed by brand guidelines that clearly set out the design parameters for the building’s look and feel. Clear direction was provided on materials, form, massing, composition and feature lighting which GAJ sought to respect whilst also responding to the local context. The end result has been hugely successful setting a new benchmark for Hilton Garden Inn hotels in the Middle East.
The sense of travel, interaction and experience were considered as key elements to be accentuated throughout the hotel’s concept design in a bid to engage on all levels with today’s new generation of discerning and value-conscious travelers.
The design concept’s aim was to remove the barrier between the external and internal environment, exploring the feeling of being surrounded by a contemporary interpretation of a garden.
The front of house areas provide open spaces with highly social work, eat and drink spaces.
The reception area offers a welcoming arrival with its crisp interiors juxtaposed by the soft organic tones and textures of the lobby café. The all-day dining restaurant offers a colorful landscape set against natural wood tones, transforming it into a vibrant dining venue inspired by botanical gardens, with local plants hanging from metal partitions. The hotel bar centrally located yet encapsulated in its own private setting, boasts an authentic vintage ambiance with sophisticated interiors creating that sought after evening venue to unwind in classic comfort. The meeting and pre-function areas, offer clients optimum privacy and a professional environment for business and meeting events.
The guestrooms and suites have a contemporary feel with clean lines and fresh interiors complemented by comprehensive state of the art technology. Large format art work throughout the property capture beautiful and interesting elements of the local flora and fauna.
The restaurant design concept aimed to create a space where indoor and outdoor boundaries would blur and explore the feeling of being surrounded by a contemporary interpretation of a garden, with accents synonymous with its locality, yet maintaining a sense of comfort.
