Hyatt Regional Head Office

20 Mar , 2016

The Hyatt Regional Head Office in Dubai is designed in such a way as to foster interaction and collaboration amongst employees. Designed by Cityspace, the interiors reflect the brand’s purpose of, “we care for people so they can be their best”. The central design theme is urban and eclectic, almost residential with an industrial feel, which is accentuated with a colour palette of greys and green and weathered material. Flexibility and openness are the key element in the design along with a focus on the effectiveness of the space. The open style layout features private booths and niche spaces and an array of furniture settings for more private scenarios which enable to have a me-time even in an open area, the thoughtful work station planning allows for clear direct and indirect sight lines across the office space providing a sense of connection and personal zoning . By adding bespoke acoustic baffles and smart acoustic pendant lights, soft flooring and plants, allows for effective discussion without disturbance to others providing a healthy and positive working environment. Offering an office with a home environment and adding natural materials such as woods, woolen fabrics, greenery sparks biophilic effect evoking an environmental connectivity. One of the key challenges faced by the designers was working for a client that specialised in hotel design. This was overcome by highlighting the nuances in design and provide unique elements by using a new materials for the joineries and having a zip tap in the pantry. The office faces the brilliance of the DIFC Gate court area and allowing connection with the outside space and an opportunity to play with the natural light and energy efficient controlled lighting to evoke different moods through the day and maintain consistent circadian rhythms.
