About the project
Designed by ATS in collaboration with Bluehaus Group, the IMKAN headquarters in Abu Dhabi portray an urban industrial landscape, as was the client’s brief, whilst simultaneously retaining existing elements in the same visual vein. The industrial appeal is most evident in the display shelving unit, lighting options, factory flooring setting and safety gate on the mezzanine level.
Spread across two levels, the open plan layout ensures functionality of space with a mix of exposed ceilings and columns, with overhead light panels visible throughout. Wood and metal furnishings can be seen on the lower level with a touch of Arabesque through rugs and decor, while ergonomic seating has been used inside the glass partitioned cabins. A major design highlight is the massive wooden structure that takes centre stage in the lobby.
MAY Interiors were the official interior design consultants for the furniture while PMK Consultants headed the project management for IMKAN. The scope of work involved the complete architectural and MEP design, installation of a mezzanine floor, and minor modifications to the façade, with the complete installation and fitout of enclosed offices, meeting rooms, a gym, a café zone, the reception area, and open work space.
