About the project
The InterContinental hotel tower contributes to the other 2 towers of Bay Central project, a 3-tower exclusive development that is already called “The Jewel of Dubai Marina”. The 5 star hotel is composed of 39 floors, has 328 hotel rooms and residence suites, 6 F&B outlets, 9 meeting rooms, full treatment spa separate for men and women, outdoor swimming pool.
Draw Link Group designed the hotel for those who prefer to “live in” rather than to “stay at” while travelling by carefully useing the limited space to make each suite or apartment fully equipped with all the facilities of a contemporary house, where every design element is chosen not only for its practicality but for its artistic value as well.
At the same time the hotel concept revolves around a contemporary museum atmosphere punctuated by amazing artwork that arouse curiosity and surprise of the visitor. Positioned in unexpected locations and yet forming an integral part of the main design, the artworks (ranging from gigantic sculptures to barely noticeable engravings and paintings) are brought to life by high ceilings, natural daylight seeping through the windows and skylights, and the considerate artificial lighting strategy.
In addition to their obvious aesthetic benefits, the artworks were conceived as a unique way of creating landmarks and helping guests to navigate through the hotel spaces. This is the first themed hotel in the UAE that tries to combine both concepts – of a hotel and of a museum.
The Pink Sculpture is the signature work of art that can surely be named a symbol of the hotel. It is the first thing you can see as entering the hotel, and represents a complex structure of 2 multifaceted geometric towers made from a reflective stainless steel in a vibrant pink color. Each sculpture is 7 meters high and goes up through the ceiling till the 1st floor.
The hotel features a considerate selection of natural materials – stone, marble, wood – in a variety of textures and shapes, as well as the use of solid surfaces in the rooms. The furniture selection lies between playful and sculptural, creating smaller sub-spaces of interest throughout the large public areas; it is as well exclusively minimalist.
The choice of light fittings is made not only by judging their technical performance, but also for their ability to embellish the space – some of them are most likely to be rather art installations than the light fittings. The fully open bathroom allows throughout its complete transparency visual glimpses not only along the room but also over the panoramic view through the large bay windows. Each of the F&B outlets has a concept behind, which makes them completely different from one another.
