About the project
The Kenny Street House is a relatively modest home, located in the back corner of a very large block in Balwyn, Melbourne. The objective of the project was to create a home that was unique, sustainable and fit for purpose. It was also to consume very little energy, collect its own water and was to be made of recycled and sustainable materials.
The clients’ brief was to have a modest, utilitarian, low-maintenance exterior that opened up to a warmer, more stylish interior. The house was to be designed around the main living space where the family would spent most of their time, which was to be sun-filled, open and spacious. The rest of the house was to be layered and zoned for varying levels of privacy and interaction.
