About the project
LW Design were appointed to transform the existing hotel lobby, piano bar and brasserie restaurant at the Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa, Dubai. The full renovation would embody the new Le Meridien brand design direction at a resort location.
Key elements in the brief were to reconfigure guest circulation and flow to maximize direct views of the hotel beach front and gardens from inside the lobby. The brasserie restaurant was extended to accommodate increased open kitchen and buffet with a new large landscape dining, barbecue and lounge bar terrace. The piano bar was extended and enclosed to maintain design personality and for acoustic separation from the adjoining spaces. Views out to the beach from gardens were created.
Highlights of the space include the beauty and flow in the space planning and zoning, the sculptural form used in the interior design and space, the feeling of lightness created, and the blend of materials and the beach side inspired colours and textures used.
In terms of the constraints of the existing building and MEP coordination, the hotel was always open throughout the construction period which was a challenge for Bond Interiors. The aim was to use a lot of natural timber and materials which aren’t easily sourced in the region.
