About the project
This New York themed, retro bar, has been designed sustainably using recycled materials, such as bar frontages from Indian railway sleepers, redundant shipping containers and scaffolding boards.
Designed by Chris Barnes, the project was carried out from start to finish by Broadway Interiors, including the project management and fitout. The layout spreads across two floors, offering relaxed, industrial style design, and creating a sports and entertainment hub for trendsetters.
The entrance of the venue is through a shipping container that leads to an expansive setting with two bars, pool tables and a music stage. The open plan scheme and introduction of a mezzanine floor provides great vantage points throughout. Intimate seating areas and larger lounges create a friendly ambience with warm lighting, and a neutral colour palette features upcycled, natural materials with accents of bold vintage colour on the shipping containers and furniture.
The walls are fabricated from obsolete, vintage hi-fi speakers, bricks reclaimed from a demolished factory, and contrasting timber wall slabs discarded from a joinery. Herringbone parquet flooring, salvaged from a house demolition in India, and furniture made with recycled Indonesian boat wood and oil drums, creates a visually fantastic, rustic blend.
