About the project
Moncler Dubai Mall, Dubai is the Italian apparel retailer’s first mono-brand boutique in the city. Designed by Gwenael Nicolas, a French designer and founder of Curiosity, this store was created to strengthen the brand’s presence in the Middle East. The goal was to create an ambience that was suspended between ice and nature. The fit-out works were executed by Bond Interiors.
Located inside the Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping centres and an unavoidable stop-off point for luxury shopping, the boutique depicts a new architectural concept that embodies a combination of heritage and contemporary – qualities that define the brand.
The façade welcomes visitors with a large white stone, like an iceberg floating in the huge atrium, and it shows the essence of the brand. Delicate stone cutting portrays the surface of broken ice blocks, which expresses the beauty and power of nature. Visitors will be surprised by the vertical interior that creates a significant contrast with the impression at the entrance.
The very high ceiling gives visitors an experience similar to exploring a forest. The products are displayed with a floating arrangement at different heights, which naturally guides visitors to find their favourite items and offer them an innovative and fun way to shop. The strength of nature is also expressed through the carefully-selected colour palette of dark woods and grey stones.
Their texture characterizes refinement and elegance, at the same time, and creates a timeless stage for all the brand’s collections. Contrary to the dark store area, the fitting rooms are covered with quilted white leather, expressing a lining of Moncler’s down jacket.
