About the project
The client, Griffin Thall, desired the perfect, organic, zen retreat for his ‘bachelor pad’. Thall is a jetsetting business owner with his home base in San Diego, and this space was to serve as a weekend retreat to play and unwind in Los Angeles. So the designers curated this 1,250 square foot condo to be the ultimate home away from home that welcomed his large posse. It includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a breathtaking view of the Santa Monica pier and California coast.
Designing a bachelor pad, historically, has always been defined by hard lines, monochrome colours, and lack of any real character. However, with this Santa Monica client, the designers pushed the boundaries of the typical masculine interior to create a more organic, modern, beach-chic escape. While muted, neutral colours carry throughout the space, layered interest has been added through the use of various organic materials and textures, creating a spa-like vibe that would evoke a sigh of relief when walking through the front door.
