About the project

A young cosmopolitan couple acquire this apartment in a luminous corner building facing the Luxembourg gardens in Paris. The building is quite old, dating from the XVII century. The client has a contemporary taste, preferring neat pure minimalistic spaces.

Accordingly, the architectural approach is more radical here, where historical vestiges, are eliminated and cleaned up. Surfaces are smoothed out and straightened; spaces are opened up. Visually, the materials used create a monochromatic contrast, bringing visual consistency & sophistication to the whole space.

The lighting concept for this apartment follows the client’s minimal sensitivities, and also taking into consideration the low bare ceilings. The lack of false ceiling leads to a more creative approach to illuminating the space by the use of track projectors that connect the walls together. The use of hidden indirect lights also helps create a warm feeling to the space.
