About the project
The brief given to Kristina Zanic Consultants for Pierre’s Bar and Bistro at the InterContinental in Dubai Festival City, was to create a dining experience that would be casual yet classy, with hints of tropical features. The aim was to utilise the existing space to the maximum with various seating zones. The designers managed this with the use of diverse furniture styles, floor finishes and unique wall and ceiling designs. The spaces consist of an outdoor terrace, lounge dining and a lounge bar, and the main contractors on board were A&T Group Interiors with the project management undertaken by Al Futtaim Group Real Estate LLC.
The overall colour palette is an interesting mix of vibrant and subtle shades, and is decidedly bold and feminine. Wall graphics in relief and terrazzo flooring introduce tropical patterns albeit in an elegant way, which is a signature KZC design stamp. Pink Flamingos and giant turtles are also dotted around the entry passageway, and are combined with bold artwork throughout, creating a truly ‘instagrammable’ space.
Wherever possible, previously existing furniture was reused – existing high back, wing armchairs were redone in bold print fabric and placed in the entrance niche seating as well as the main lounge dining, while the banquet seating was reupholstered with vibrant coloured leather.
