About the project
Design Infinity recently completed and handed over the first phase of its design and build project, RAKEZ, in Ras Al Khaimah, with phase two currently under construction. RAKEZ is a strategic collaboration between Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone and Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority to provide world-class facilities and state-of-the-art offices for both free zone and non-free zone investors. And for this project, the client preferred a vendor who could offer both design and build services.
Phase one comprises of the One-Stop-Shop (client services segment) as well as the RAKEZ Corporate Offices in two different locations.
In terms of aesthetics, Design Infinity has certainly managed to do justice to the brief, resulting in interiors that are futuristic and minimal, with unique design elements. A nine-metre-high structure created with wooden strips brings warmth into the cool tones in the reception area. However, of note is the intricately carved out metal mashrabiya pattern, which forms a faux wall behind the reception desk, and features intermittently throughout the interior. Within the monotones of the overall interior are splashes of blue echoing the colours of the RAKEZ logo, and are found across the carpeting as well.
The flooring in the sizeable reception area is laid out in epoxy, which spills into the lobbies and corridors, tying up the spaces nicely. High-rise open ceilings with circular GI ducting and industrial lights look down on open-plan workstations and lounge areas, creating a slick, warehouse effect.
This project certainly transforms the stereotypical office space into a contemporary, smart and people-friendly one.
