The world’s largest Roller Coaster Restaurant – ROGO’s is located at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, where the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix and the indoor theme park Ferrari World are. A tornado-shaped gigantic spiral is the restaurant’s highlight. Several loops and sensational rail tracks also contribute to the entertainment of the 360 seat restaurant. AAID was appointed to create a restaurant environment that both compliments and enhances the unique system of food delivery by roller coaster. The restaurant had to have a unique look and feel that was warm but contemporary. Lighting, function and furniture all had to compliment the roller coaster.
The façade highlights the movement of the roller-coaster with large sweeping angled features. In addition, upon entrance one walks through overhanging enclosures to emphasize movement. The lighting replicates travel with a series of LED tubes directed across the ceiling. It was important for the lighting not to interfere with the roller coaster. The use of Architecture simulates the structure and motion of the roller coaster food delivery system. The space design is intended to be dynamic and fun to enhance the experience in which food is delivered to the consumer through this unique system.
