About the project
Following the success of Sea Salt Naples in Florida. James Beard House Guest Chef Fabrizio Aielli called upon GrizForm Design Architects principal and founder Griz Dwight and his award-winning team again to bring the well-received seafood restaurant concept to St. Petersburg. For Sea Salt St. Pete, GrizForm created a contemporary environment, blending sophisticated materials with natural textures that reference the fresh ingredients and seafood fare reflected in Venetian-born chef’s menu.
At the entrance of the 8,961-square-foot space, a rotating rack showcases over 100 types of salt from such locations as the Himalayas, the Mediterranean, Australia – and even a Jack Daniels-infused salt homemade at Sea Salt. Inside, guests will find an inviting environment with 297 seats, an 80-foot-long raw bar, and a 20-foot-tall glass tower displaying over 6,000 bottles of wine.
Design elements merge simple, natural materials with touches of glam: the walls are covered in weathered wood and gloss white tile wainscot, interwoven with panels of marbled orange glass and laser cut wood. In the center dining area, tufted banquettes flank the screen walls on either side of the room. A dark brown leather drop ceiling with a large decorative accent pendant graces the center and second dining rooms, while the third dining area features a collection of glass pendants that create a canopy of decorative light. An extensive patio offers a casual yet sophisticated al fresco dining experience. An additional private space is available on the patio, along with two lounge areas and fire pits.
