About the project
Designed by Broadway Interiors, the brief was to develop a traditional commercial office and unique showroom where the design concept would be eye catching, practical and made from re-usable materials. With the need to showcase the full product range, the design team were inspired to think out of the box and utilized new and redundant items from the client’s warehouse including scrap materials from other sources.
The conventional formula for representing furniture and flooring was redefined by placing products in creative ways to create a visual experience in every vista. Carpets were used as decorative wall coverings with furniture suspended from the ceiling, while the backdrop of graffiti and tension wire walling among many other components also enhanced the look of the products displayed.
Based on an urban street concept, this innovative and sustainable space used reclaimed items with many products re-engineered from their original form, some of which include furniture packaging recycled to create wall art, timber pallets manipulated into decorative walling, reinforcement mesh creating a suspended ceiling pod, and discarded ceiling spotlights modified to form decorative and directional pendant lights.
