About the project
Opus ME by Melia has the honour of being the only hotel that was fully conceptualised by the legendary architect, Dame Zaha Hadid. Bond Interiors stepped in for the fit-out of the entire project, which includes 93 rooms and suites, the atrium, an all-day dining area, gym, spa, conference centre, public areas, back of house and basement offices. In terms of aesthetics, the late Pritzker Prize winner’s signature swoops and architectural flourishes are highly evident. Plus, the classic Zaha Hadid curvaceous style makes the overall design truly stand out.
The rooms are designed in a desert theme with a colour palette of gold and blue. The design curve has been extended to the bathrooms with rounded sinks, oversized shower heads and curvaceous soaking tubs. According to Bond, the hotel’s bespoke interior involved extreme fit-out engineering that started with a demolition followed by major structural, civil and steel work. The end result – stunning!
