About the project
HDG Architecture worked closely with Thomas Hammer to design a new, central meeting place for the South Hill community. This new concept named LTD Reserve was the coffee shop’s namesake. Expanding the experience to include beer and wine met the growing community’s need for an “all purpose” gathering place.
The contemporary concept focuses heavily on natural materials and welcoming seating areas. HDG infused the space with open, inviting, and bright meeting spaces. The cedar ceilings combined with recessed light fixtures and large, open windows create both a sense of warmth and balance to the interiors. The walls, consisting of staggered tile and soft, diagonally placed wood, create the dynamic backdrop of the casual and refined, cafe experience.
Thomas Hammer’s Grand Blvd location has a versatile setting that has been created to host a wide array of indoor seating types and functions. Within the cafe space, there are seating areas separated with vertical partitions to maximize transparency. Seating options include booths, communal tables, and settees, which give patrons choices on how they wish to interact within the space. The kitchen features full height glass partitions and available seating options at the coffee bar itself, inviting the community to witness and engage with the experience.
