About the project
Perched just above the blue expanse of the Atlantic Ocean in Clifton, Cape Town, this opulent yet timelessly elegant, duplex apartment on the ground floor boasts a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. The interior architecture, décor and furnishings reflect the client’s love of travel.
Designers ARRCC worked with a neutral colour palette throughout the generous, double volume space, allowing the majestic blue of the ocean and the sky to be the only colours that pour in through the glass expanse. Under a slatted, timber pergola, a large terrace is dotted with lounging deck furniture that features simple white upholstery draped in Ralph Lauren. Indigo dyed printed throws echo the vibrant blue of the sea.
Inside, an understated showcase kitchen peeks through a porthole that also halos one of the Anton Momberg sculptures.
A combination of polished and matt mahogany timber finishes are used throughout the apartment, creating a subtle yet consistent aesthetic.
The living area is a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors. Smokey grey, mirror-clad columns enhance the views, even more, reflecting light and creating a further dimension of space. A five-metre, outdoor Iroko table sits invitingly on the terrace, perfect for social or family gatherings.
A noticeably pared down white kitchen, features a Corian worktop, which is offset by an art piece. Adjacent to the kitchen, a uniquely crafted Pierre Cronje dining table and chairs enjoy the spectacular views through the glass-stacked doors. And a private cellar is centred with an OKHA designed table and chairs.
In the upstairs living area, another Anton Momberg sculpture makes her home there, gently illuminated from the warm glow of geometric suspended lights.
Leading through to the master bedroom is a circular lobby, accentuated by a recessed ceiling with dimmed lighting, warming the room from above. The lobby flows through to the master living room and bedroom.
The master bedroom is a place of quiet sanctuary, where soft neutrals and plantation style shutters enhance the casual ambience. Gracefully considered white linen fabrics are offset with black décor items, creating an interesting dichotomy.
