About the project
Designed by RK Interior Architecture, ZADK Culinary Academy’s contemporary and modern interior was designed combining various textures and materials. Each area within the academy is styled with a certain design and material selection that enhances its functionality. The transparency between the academy spaces is emphasised with glass partitions to ensure the flow of communication and facilitate students’ movements. The designers chose more of an industrial look for the kitchens, using black painted open ceilings and AC ducts, white flooring tiles and walls, and cool lighting that helps with focus and attention. The overall space is touched up with various artwork, two major ones being a mural by Saudi artist Ali Alhamoud painted directly on a 6×3 metre wall in the lobby area, and the ZADK Camel: Zaidoon, created by BOKJA Design in Beirut. The ZADK camel is dressed in beautiful old Afghan fabrics with a shawl and saddle embroidered with the Saudi flag.
