The quest for Sustainability in the Construction Industry has made the topic of Waste Management a recurring discussion amongst practitioners and researchers. This is key, as this industry is amongst the largest contributors to the global waste generated and also the highest consumer of the earth’s abundant resources.
At Designsmith, coming from the design and build specialty, this piece is greatly inspired from the waste generated by different end products on an everyday basis at our own backyard.
This prototype is designed to create multiple modules that can easily be put together. Our goal was not only to build a sustainable & an eco-friendly outdoor furniture piece but also to create an awareness on waste management, equality in public community spaces and highlight essential values which are the basis of society.
Our designed block can be easily modified and re-worked into different combinations, it has an industrial chic design element to it and very comfortably and subtly plugs into the urban landscape across the globe.
