The name of the bureau refers to Rik Helsen and Rik Van Com, the two founders and managers of the bureau. In 1989 they founded the office together with offices in Keerbergen and Hasselt under the name Helsen & Van Com Architecten nv. In addition to their first name, they also share their down-to-earth view of architecture. They are not out to constantly score themselves, but put their knowledge and experience at the service of their clients who want buildings that meet the requirements in terms of efficiency, budget and appearance. Since 2016, after many years of collaboration, architect Frank Tack also joined as a partner.
Gradually, the trio has managed to develop their agency into a permanent fixture with a dozen employees and meanwhile more than 1,000 reference projects
