Balneum by Kristina Zanic Consultants for Cosentino at Downtown Design 2023
Balneum, meaning bath in Latin, is a contemporary, minimalist reinterpretation of the ancient Mediterranean bathhouse. Designed by award-winning interior design practice Kristina Zanic Consultants for global architectural surfaces leader Cosentino, the immersive installation takes a deconstructed approach to the form, distilling it to its fundamental components: pool, column, arch and steps. A sense of serenity is evoked through a nuanced
material and colour palette while olive trees, wild grass and rustic amphoras add texture and a soft, organic quality to the overall scheme. Italian classical stone inspired Dekton® Pietra Kode, a carbon neutral collection designed for Cosentino by Daniel Germani, seamlessly clads the steps, flooring and pool in a harmonious composition. Reimagining the bath as a sanctuary and place of well-being, Balneum invites visitors to gather around the tranquil waters of its pool, creating an empathetic space for connection and restoration.
