ISKU’s Sustainability Report: “Sustainability Requires Taking Action”

ISKU‘s has released its latest Sustainability Report: “Sustainability Requires Taking Action” – In 2022, we continued our determined work on environmental sustainability, social responsibility and corporate governance. The energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine brought challenges to the year, but our own solar power park was completed next to our factory, allowing the production of electricity for the needs of the factory. Our solar park is one of the largest in Finland and provides energy for our production operations during about seven months of the year.

Investments in renewable energy and sustainable district heating will enable our production to be carbon-neutral in 2023. This is an important step on ISKU’s journey towards carbon neutrality. Based on carbon footprint calculations, in 2022 we prepared climate roadmaps for the measures already completed and the steps still to be taken towards a carbon-neutral ISKU. You can read more about the climate roadmaps on pages 16 and 22 (View Full Report Here).

Social responsibility refers to all the effects that a company’s operations have on different stakeholders. Quality is one aspect of social responsibility. Quality work is a part of the job description of every ISKU employee. In 2022, we continued developing high quality for both products and operations. Our quality assurance measures help us ensure that any deviations do not move forward in the chain of operations. Everyone is responsible for the quality of their own work, and everyone has the right and duty to prevent an error from moving forward in the process. Our customers have shown their satisfaction with ISKU’s high quality, and our level of customer satisfaction is very high. In 2022, our NPS was 72 in corporate sales. We have set goals for our customer satisfaction, which you can read more about on page 48 (View Full Report Here).

“Since 1928, we have manufactured products in Lahti in a responsible, high-quality and sustainable manner. Sustainability is all about actions, not just words. In 2022, we took significant measures to promote ISKU’s sustainability in accordance with our objectives.”
– Arto Tiitinen, President and CEO, ISKU.

The production in Finland is the cornerstone of ISKU. We have invested heavily in nearby production and procurement. Good governance will continue to be reflected in our work and contributions also in 2022, and we want to communicate openly about our sustainable operations. In 2022, we joined the UN Global Compact initiative promoting corporate responsibility, and we want to prove our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the ten principles of the Global Compact initiative even more strongly. We also want to communicate transparently about our progress in sustainability matters in accordance with the Global Compact initiative’s reporting framework. We will remain a strong advocate and forerunner of sustainability also in the future.
