Sevil Dolmaci Gallery Presents Its First Group Exhibition “Material Matters” In Dubai

Sevil Dolmacı Dubai presents its first international group exhibition with the artworks of 13 international artists, namely Ahmet Oran, Andy Warhol, Beverly Fishman, Bosco Sodi, Cody Choi, Jiri Georg Dokoupil, Nejat Satı, Ozan Oganer, Ross Bleckner, Ozan Türkkan, Rosy Keyser, Sinan Saül and Ryakartstyle.

The show titled “Material Matters” is composed of the artists’ attention-grabbing and thought-provoking canvas, digital and sculpture works. The meaning of a particular material for an artist or the reason behind an artist’s selection of a specific material in their art practice is the key point, which the viewer is encouraged to contemplate about while experiencing the exhibition.

An artist’s material selection might depend on a variety of reasons, such as the location and period of time they were born and brought up in, their cultural, economic, ethnic, political, religious and social background, or simply their wish to evoke histories, [re]connect with places or bring back their personal and collective memories. Inspired by the central role the material plays in the practice of contemporary artists, “Material Matters” is creating a space for the viewers to experience the artworks from various materials and explore which material they sense a stronger connection with and why.

“Material Matters” exhibition will run from 1 February 2024 to 20 February 2024.
